JetBlue Adds Three New NYC-Area Routes

As the Northeast Alliance hangs in the balance, JetBlue has announced the addition of three routes to its route map, serving the New York City area.

New Routes

The new routes include:

  • Boston – Washington Dulles
  • New York – Hartford/Springfield
  • New York – Norfolk, Virginia

All three new routes are expected to begin operation on June 24, 2021 and represent the first major change in the airline’s route network in over a year.

Northeast Alliance

The launch of these new routes has raised speculation about the future of JetBlue’s proposed Northeast Alliance. The alliance, which would see JetBlue partner with United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and American Airlines, has been in negotiations for months.

At present, no final decision has been made, but JetBlue is still hopeful that the alliance will come to fruition.

“The Northeast Alliance is a tremendous opportunity to make flying in the Northeast even better, providing customers with more convenient connections, more destinations, and better access to connections worldwide,” says JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes.

Benefits of Alliance

The alliance would bring many benefits to JetBlue customers, including:

  • Access to network connectivity with United, Delta, and American Airlines
  • The ability to earn and redeem points across all four airlines
  • Three airline lounges located in cities that are served by JetBlue
  • A wider range of destinations available to customers in the Northeast

JetBlue’s three new routes are an exciting addition to the airline’s route map and may provide further hope for the future of the Northeast Alliance. Time will tell whether the alliance will be successful, but it is clear that JetBlue is doing all it can to make it happen.
