Sail Rock, also known as Hin Bai, is a premier diving site in the Gulf of Thailand, which is easily accessible from Koh Tao island. This lone granite pinnacle is known for its natural, vertical swim-through, called “The Chimney,” that runs inside the granite pinnacle of Sail Rock.
Sail Rock Marine Life
Its open water location attracts large whale sharks, schools of barracuda, jacks and trevally, batfish and other large visitors such as dogtooth tuna, sailfish and Bryde’s whales. Sail Rock is home to moray eels and healthy coral formation on the shallower parts of the rock hosts angelfish (blue-ringed), butterflyfish, damselfish, groupers, parrotfish and numerous other colourful reef fish.
